Painters in Le Lignon, the estate where we are based
Le Lignon is our street. Renovhome SA has its head office at 32 Route du Bois-des-Frères, inside the estate itself. It is where we work most, and where we arrive fastest.
Le Lignon is one of the largest housing estates in Switzerland, built between 1963 and 1971 in a clearly modern style. The whole site was planned as one piece, on a very uniform building stock. We know this construction from the inside, since our office sits within the estate. The layouts repeat, from the studio to the seven-room flat. But the concrete and the plaster ceilings have aged, so we work room by room.
Our street, our office
Renovhome SA is based at Route du Bois-des-Frères 32, 1219 Le Lignon. We know each flat layout, each ceiling variant, each technical detail of the building, for the simple reason that we have worked in the estate for a long time.
A site planned as one piece
Le Lignon was designed as one unified ensemble by the architects Georges Addor, Louis Payot, Jacques Bolliger and Dominique Julliard, between 1963 and 1971. The buildings follow the same construction logic:
- Reinforced concrete and standardised ceiling heights.
- Flat layouts that recur, from the studio to the seven-room unit.
- Repeating interior finishes: functional kitchens, prefabricated bathroom pods in some units, plaster ceilings.
That regularity helps with planning. Often we know the quirks of a flat before the visit.
The jobs we handle most often here
- Between-tenancy refurbishment. Probably what we carry out most on the estate.
- Ceiling painting. The stock is showing its age, with occasional infiltration marks and surface cracks.
- Repairs after water damage, common in the old wet risers. We follow a protocol: drying out, a coat that seals off the marks, then enamel.
- Lacquered enamel in wet rooms, bathrooms above all, where the finish has to resist steam.
- Freshening up flats lived in by long-standing owners.
Who we work with in Le Lignon
- The managing agents that run the estate’s co-ownerships. Their buildings sit a few minutes from our door.
- Owner-occupiers, often here for several decades.
- Outgoing or incoming tenants, who benefit from the proximity.
- The cooperatives present in the district.
How we schedule the work
In Le Lignon we can give priority to jobs in the district when an emergency calls for it. Water damage on a Saturday? We often come and assess it quickly. A refurbishment before a tight inventory check? That can work, depending on the openings at the time.

Local FAQ
Good to know in Le Lignon
- Can a Lignon flat be repainted without emptying it, while it is still lived in?
- That is the norm here, not the exception. In most flats on the estate we work in occupied premises. Floors and furniture go under dust sheets, and we move forward room by room. The home stays livable throughout. You also keep the same contact from start to finish.
- What preparation do the plaster ceilings and concrete surfaces of the 1960s Lignon buildings need?
- The original construction pairs reinforced concrete with plaster ceilings that have aged. Hairline cracks appear. Now and then an isolated trace of damp. We treat each surface for its own condition. That means filling and sanding, then a bonding primer before the paint goes on. The finish stays covered by the legal warranty.
- Do you work with the managing agents and cooperatives that run the Lignon buildings?
- We do, on a daily basis. Our office sits in the estate, a few minutes from the buildings managed on site. We handle between-tenancy refurbishments together with inventory checks and the common areas. The quote comes written and itemised, with one point of contact for the job.
- How does a repair after water damage work in the old wet risers of Le Lignon?
- These old risers see recurring infiltration. First we wait for the surface to dry out. Then an undercoat seals off the marks, followed by the finish suited to the room (an enamel in wet areas). The repair covers the interior paintwork. Where it helps, we coordinate with your insurer.
