Frequently asked questions

Everything people ask us before signing a quote.

Quotes, scheduling, warranties, services, emergencies. Here are clear, factual answers to the questions that come up most often. A question missing? Call or write — we get back to you quickly.

Quote & request

How is the quote prepared?
You receive a free quote after we visit the property. It breaks down each room, the preparation work, the paint and the finishes, so you know exactly what to expect. It is free, with no commitment, and we get back to you quickly after your request.
Is the quote chargeable or binding?
The quote is free and comes with no commitment. It remains valid for thirty days. You are free to accept it, negotiate it or set it aside. No travel charge is applied within the canton of Geneva.
How can I request a quote quickly?
Three channels: the online form on this page, by phone at 022 795 17 00, or by e-mail at info@renovhome.ch. Giving the address, the type of property, the approximate surface area and the level of urgency helps us schedule the visit sooner.
Do you work with property managers?
Yes — working with property managers is at the heart of what Renovhome SA does. Your free quote, a schedule agreed with you, compliant invoicing, a dedicated point of contact for follow-up. Framework conditions for property managers are reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
Which painter should a property manager choose in Geneva?
A property manager expects a dedicated point of contact, a detailed room-by-room quote, compliant invoicing and insurance certificates. Renovhome SA works regularly with property managers across the whole canton: between-tenancy repaints, claims, common areas. Registered with the Geneva Commercial Register, a member of the GGE, with framework conditions reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

Process & job-site

How does a project with Renovhome work?
Four simple steps. You describe the job to us, we come to visit and take measurements, you receive your free quote, then a dedicated point of contact follows your project from measurement to handover. Protected floors, clean masking, a job-site left tidy: you have just one number to call.
How do you plan a standard project?
The duration of a project depends on the surface area, the condition of the substrates and the chosen finishes — it is set out with you in the quote, with no commitment. Water-damage repairs are given priority. You keep a dedicated point of contact, from measurement to handover.
Do you work while the occupants are present?
Yes for partial jobs (a single room, touch-ups, a specific ceiling). For a complete refurbishment, an empty apartment remains preferable: faster execution, more careful finishes, no furniture protection required.
How does the preliminary visit take place?
The visit lasts thirty minutes to an hour depending on the size of the property. The team reviews each room, takes measurements, identifies the technical points (humidity, substrates, joints, ceilings) and discusses the desired colours and finishes. The quote then reaches you quickly.
How long before a freshly painted room can be used again?
A freshly painted room is generally usable once the paint is dry to the touch (a few hours depending on the product and the ventilation). Any residual smell fades within one to two days; we use low-VOC paints to limit the inconvenience.
Can you paint in winter?
Yes, indoors, all year round: all it takes is a heated and ventilated room. Cold weather slows drying, which we account for in the schedule. Only outdoor applications genuinely depend on the weather.
Does the paint smell linger for long?
With low-VOC paints, the smell stays light and clears within one to two days with good ventilation. We air out the job-site at the end of the work.
How does painting a building stairwell work?
We plan with the property manager or the co-owners’ association to keep the passage open: protection of the floors and the handrail, work done by half-flights, clear signage. The aim is a clean job that does not disrupt life in the building.
Do you need to empty the apartment to have it repainted?
It is not required. For a complete refurbishment, an empty home remains preferable: smoother execution and more careful finishes. For a partial job, we work with the furniture in place: it is grouped together and protected, and the floors are masked. Renovhome assesses the most suitable option during the visit.
How do you protect my furniture and floors during the work?
Before painting, Renovhome systematically protects the floors (dust sheets, cardboard), masks skirting boards, frames and switches, then covers the furniture that cannot be moved. The job-site is left clean, with the protections removed. This method applies to every job, from a studio to a building managed by a property manager.
Can you get a painting quote without a visit, just from photos?
Photos and the approximate surface area allow an initial indicative estimate. But a precise, detailed room-by-room quote requires an on-site visit: only an examination of the substrates (humidity, cracks, joints) ensures accurate pricing. The visit is free and with no commitment across the whole canton of Geneva.
Can you help me choose the colours before repainting?
Yes. During the visit, Renovhome advises on shades, the type of finish (matt, velvet, satin) and the constraints of each room (light, humidity, use). The final choice remains yours. The aim is a consistent and durable result, suited to every substrate in your home.
How do you contact a painter in Geneva and get a reply?
Three direct channels: phone at 022 795 17 00, e-mail at info@renovhome.ch, or the online form. Give the address, the type of property, the approximate surface area and any urgency: this helps schedule the visit. A dedicated point of contact then handles your case.

Types of work

What types of work do you handle?
Interior painting of walls and ceilings, installation and removal of wallpaper, enamel finishes for wet rooms (bathroom, kitchen, laundry room), between-tenancy repaint and water-damage repair. The entire interior, from a studio to a building managed by a property manager.
Do you handle urgent water-damage situations?
Yes. After a claim, Renovhome works in coordination with your insurer and your property manager: assessment of the substrates, drying, a sealing coat over the affected areas, painting and finishes. Photographic documentation of the job-site is kept for the claim file.
Do you hang wallpaper?
Yes. Renovhome handles the removal of old coverings, the preparation of the substrates (skim-coating, primer), the hanging of new coverings (wallpaper, non-woven, traditional wallpaper) and the finishes. The choice of covering is yours, with advice available on request.
Painting a bathroom: which paint should you choose?
In a wet room, Renovhome applies a sealing coat then a gloss or satin enamel paint resistant to humidity. This protocol limits mould, makes maintenance easier and holds up over time against the humidity variations typical of a bathroom.
Can you repaint a ceiling on its own?
Yes. Renovhome carries out ceiling-only painting: preparation (skim-coating, treatment of any cracks), a bonding coat where needed, final paint. Masking of the floor and the furniture is taken care of.
Which paint for a kitchen or a bathroom?
In wet rooms, we apply a gloss enamel or a washable satin paint, resistant to steam and easy to clean. On the areas most exposed to humidity, a sealing coat prevents stains from coming back.
Which paint for a child’s bedroom?
A matt or velvet low-VOC acrylic: respiratory comfort, fast drying, easy touch-ups. We favour products that comply with Swiss health requirements.
Can you paint over wallpaper?
It is sometimes possible if the wallpaper is intact and well bonded, but the result is rarely durable. We generally recommend removing it and then re-levelling the substrate before painting — we assess this on a case-by-case basis during the visit.
How many coats of paint are needed?
As a general rule: an undercoat if the substrate requires one, then two finishing coats. A dark shade or a marked colour change may require an additional coat for a thoroughly even result.
Who do you call to repaint an apartment before the move-out inspection in Geneva?
Renovhome SA carries out between-tenancy repaints: filling, skim-coating, joints, painting of walls and ceilings, finishing of wet rooms. The company works regularly with property managers across the canton and coordinates the schedule with them. A detailed free quote after the visit, a dedicated point of contact from measurement to handover.
Painter for an urgent water-damage repair in Geneva: how does it work?
Renovhome works in coordination with your insurer and your property manager: assessment of the substrates, drying, a sealing coat over the affected areas, then painting and finishes. Photographic documentation of the job-site is kept for the claim file. Water-damage repairs are given priority in scheduling.
Do you redo the whole room or only the damaged wall?
It depends on the substrate. A localised touch-up is sometimes invisible on a recent, even shade; but on an older or marked wall, a partial repair often shows. During the visit, Renovhome assesses whether a targeted touch-up is enough or whether repainting the whole wall will give an even result.
Do you work on a studio as well as on a whole building?
Yes. Renovhome SA handles the entire interior, from a studio to a building managed by a property manager: apartments, common areas, stairwells, between-tenancy repaints and post-claim repairs. The company covers the whole canton of Geneva, with an identical preparation and finishing protocol whatever the size of the job.
