Lancy — architecture representative of the district

Lancy is one of the canton's three most populous municipalities, and it's moving fast. It sits on the left bank, between Plan-les-Ouates, Onex and the Ville de Genève. Two realities share the same ground. There are the collective housing estates of the 1960s and 70s, towards the Onex border, Pont-Rouge and Lancy-Sud. And there is the recent, intense building around Pont-Rouge, the Adret and La Praille, set off by the arrival of the Léman Express. The stock here is anything but uniform.

Three Lancys, one municipality

One place, three faces. Petit-Lancy is dense and residential: grand period buildings along the route du Pont-Butin, condominiums from the 1970s to the 90s. Grand-Lancy is built around the place du 1er-Août, with its large collective housing estates and, towards Tivoli, villas and small apartment blocks. Then comes the new construction. Since 2018, the Pont-Rouge, Adret-Pont-Rouge and Les Cherpines districts have been rising around the Léman Express station, with homes in current finishes. Three kinds of building. None of them takes paint the same way.

The surfaces we meet

  • Collective housing estates from the 1960s and 70s: standardised plasterboard and plaster, prefabricated bathrooms in some units.
  • Period buildings in Petit-Lancy: ceilings with cornices, generous heights, original parquet.
  • Recent construction in Pont-Rouge / Adret: smooth new plasterboard that calls for contemporary finishes.
  • Villas towards the Onex border and Tivoli: one-off interiors, with the occasional exterior job.

The work that keeps coming back

  • Between-tenancy repaints in the managed estates and condominiums. That’s the bulk of what we do here.
  • Painting new apartments in Pont-Rouge / Adret before the tenant moves in.
  • Touch-ups after water damage in the 1960s-70s blocks. The old damp risers stay sensitive.
  • Refreshing the homes of owners settled in Grand-Lancy for years.
  • Enamel finishes in the bathrooms and kitchens of renovated condominiums.

Who we work with

The people change from one street to the next. Property managers run the large condominiums of Grand-Lancy and Petit-Lancy. Public landlords and cooperatives hold a strong presence in the new districts. Developers call when a new build is handed over in Pont-Rouge / Adret. Some landlords own flats in the recent buildings. And there are the tenants themselves, on the way in or on the way out, when the inventory leaves no margin.

When the keys change hands

Lancy is densifying fast. Part of our year follows the rhythm of new-build handovers, with move-in waves packed into a few weeks. We plan for those peaks. Slots are booked well in advance with the property managers and developers we work with regularly.

Getting there from the depot

Our depot is at Le Lignon. Lancy is under 15 minutes away by the route du Pont-Butin. The newer road links make Pont-Rouge an easy approach. In the dense condominiums of Grand-Lancy, we sort out site parking ahead of time with the caretakers.

Renovhome SA paints across the whole municipality, from historic Petit-Lancy to the new buildings of Pont-Rouge. Ask for your quote. It’s free and commits you to nothing.

Local FAQ

Good to know in Lancy

Can an occupied apartment in a Grand-Lancy housing estate be repainted without emptying it out?
It can. In the 1960s-70s estates we work room by room, with dust sheets over the furniture and the floors. The paints we use are low in VOCs, so you can stay at home while the work goes on. Access is set with the caretaker. We spread out the drying times to keep the daily disruption down.
How is a condominium (PPE) painting job coordinated in Lancy?
For the large condominiums of Grand-Lancy and Petit-Lancy, everything is arranged with the property manager or the PPE administrator. We handle the common areas and stairwells according to the building's rules. Access and site parking are fixed with the caretaker beforehand. A single contact follows your file from the visit to the final check.
Does preparation differ between a period building in Petit-Lancy and a new home in Pont-Rouge?
A great deal. The period stock of Petit-Lancy brings old plaster and cornices under fine ceiling heights. That means patient filling and careful joints. In Pont-Rouge or Adret, the smooth new plasterboard mostly wants a bonding primer before the finish coats. We set the protocol against the surface in front of us.
Do you take on between-tenancy repaints in Lancy?
That's the heart of what we do in the municipality. We bring the apartment back to the expected standard before the move-in inventory, whether it sits in an estate, a condominium or a new development. The work runs from preparing the surfaces to redoing the ceilings and the woodwork, then the enamel finishes. We plan around the move-in waves with property managers and developers. The visit is free across the canton.
